CSSWE CubeSat, great success!
As part of my Master’s program, I was able to participate on a project to create a CubeSat. A small, 10x10x30cm satellite, which in this case has a science instrument that measures energetic particles from the Sun.
Throughout the project, my involvement was centered around the command and data handling subsystem., and I served various roles from software designer/engineer, to C&DH team lead, and it was an interesting experience to say the least. The University of Colorado at Boulder is one of only a few places that can provide an opportunity such as this…
At any rate, the satellite is now orbiting Earth, has all of the participants name on its rear, and is doing very well indeed according to the students currently operating it, and the data it’s sending to Earth.
I commend all my peers that played a role in making the project a success, but can’t single out or praise the participants on the project during it’s final push to launch enough. At the time I departed academia, they still had roughly a year and a massive amount of work and challenges ahead of them… As evidenced by the launch, and the success of the mission, they truly pulled off something great. A hard earned well deserved success indeed, congratulations!
