Magic Trackpad ? Indeed…
One of my earlier posts was about modifying an MBP trackpad for use on the desktop, and despite going to all the trouble of creating a DIY trackpad from an MBP case top, I have to say I’m very pleased with Apple’s recent Magic Trackpad.
Everything about the device is perfect for me. I’m using them at home and work, and they fit nicely between my Kinesis Freestyles. I did have to build a custom platform on which the trackpad sits, so that it’s flush with the keyboard using the VIP accessory, but the custom tailoring has resulted in the most comfortable setup I’ve ever had. I find that mousing is a bit slower than my previous favorite setup using Microsoft’s thumb trackball, but overall the shorter reach to the trackpad, and increase in comfort edges wins out overall.
Over the years I’ve tried just about every keyboard and mouse/trackpad in existence trying to find my own computing panacea, and I’ve finally found it.
